Side View Mirrors

Exterior mirrors and parts are essential vehicle equipment components that ensure excellent visibility and increase safety while driving. They allow you to monitor the situation on the road, especially in blind spots, which helps avoid dangerous situations. In the Global Parts automotive store, you will find a wide selection of used car parts, including exterior mirrors and parts, ideal for brands such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Mini, and others.

What components are included in exterior mirrors and parts?

Our offer includes the following components:

• Exterior mirrors – Complete mirror assemblies, which can be manual, electric, or folding, ensuring full functionality and visibility.
• Mirror components – Sub-assemblies such as housings, folding mechanisms, adjustment motors, or electrical connectors.
• Mirror glass – Key elements ensuring visibility, available in heated, spherical, or photochromic versions.

Construction and purpose of exterior mirrors and parts

Exterior mirrors and parts are a set of components mounted on the left or right side of the vehicle, most often near the front doors. Their task is to provide visibility of the area next to and behind the car, as well as to ensure proper integration with the electrical system and vehicle equipment. A typical set may include the housing, insert, glass, base, adjustment motor, turn signal, sensor, and wiring harness.

Comparison of exterior mirror variants and parts

Component type	Main function	What to check before purchase
Complete mirror	Provides full visibility and includes the housing, mechanism, and glass	Mounting side, number of pins, adjustment type, body version, OEM number
Mirror insert or glass	Responsible for image reflection and may support heating	Shape of the insert, mounting method, presence of a heating mat, aspherical or standard version
Housing or cover	Protects the mirror mechanism and affects the vehicle's appearance	Color, paint-ready status, attachment points, compatibility with the mirror body
Adjustment and folding mechanism	Enables mirror positioning and folding	Drive type, electrical connector, compatibility with the base and wiring

Why is it worth taking care of exterior mirrors and parts?

Damage or wear to exterior mirrors and their parts can affect driving comfort and safety. Typical symptoms of a malfunction include:

• Lack of mirror adjustment – A damaged adjustment mechanism or motor may prevent the mirror position from being changed.
• Cracks or scratches on the mirror glass – These limit visibility and can cause image distortion.
• Loose housing – This can cause noise while driving and affect the vehicle's aerodynamics.
• Heating problems – A faulty heated glass makes driving in winter conditions difficult, causing ice and fog to accumulate. At Global Parts, we offer used exterior mirrors and their parts that have undergone detailed quality tests, ensuring their durability and reliability.

Functions of exterior mirrors in daily use

Exterior mirrors are used to observe the traffic lane, the roadside, and the space behind the vehicle during reversing, lane changing, and parking. In more modern versions, they also integrate with turn signals, memory settings, heating, or electric folding. If you are looking for a sub-assembly such as an Audi A4 B8 mirror housing, it is worth comparing the OEM number, color, attachment points, and compatibility with pre-facelift or post-facelift versions.

How to choose the right exterior mirrors and parts?

When choosing exterior mirrors and parts, you should pay attention to several key aspects:

• Compatibility with the vehicle model – Each mirror and its components must be consistent with the vehicle's design. At Global Parts, you will find mirrors and parts perfectly matched to BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Mini, and others.
• Technical condition – Used components should be free from cracks, scratches, and other mechanical damage.
• Function type – Choose mirrors with features that meet your needs, such as heating, electric adjustment, or folding.

Selection by OEM number and vehicle equipment

The mirror mechanism refers to the internal system responsible for setting the glass position and, depending on the version, folding the entire body. When selecting, it is worth checking the OEM number, mounting side, plug type, and the presence of additional equipment. When choosing an element such as a Mercedes W211 mirror insert, it is important to compare the shape of the glass, the mounting method, heating, and compatibility with the housing and base.

Why choose used exterior mirrors and parts?

Used car parts, such as mirrors, mirror components, and mirror glass, are a practical solution that allows for savings while maintaining high quality. By choosing used exterior mirrors and parts, you gain:

• Lower costs – Used components are significantly cheaper than new ones but offer equally high quality.
• Ecology – Recycling car parts supports environmental protection and reduces waste.
• Wide selection – In our store, you will find mirrors and their parts for the most popular car brands.

Components working with exterior mirrors and parts

An exterior mirror does not work as an isolated detail but interacts with the door panel, electrical wiring, and mounting elements. When dismantling or replacing, it is often worth checking the doors, trunk lids, and tailgates, handles, mounts, and mounting parts, as well as parts for front and rear windows. Technical knowledge can also be supplemented by the article Dismantled drive axles and differentials – how to match gear ratios to driving style, which shows how to compare parts based on compatibility and application.

How to take care of exterior mirrors and parts?

To ensure exterior mirrors and their parts work reliably for a long time, it is worth following a few rules:

• Regularly clean the mirror glass to ensure maximum visibility and reflection efficiency.
• Check the operation of mirror adjustment and heating to avoid problems in difficult weather conditions.
• Replace damaged or worn components, such as housings or mechanisms, to maintain full functionality and aesthetics.
• If a replacement is needed, at Global Parts you will find suitable used auto parts that will restore full functionality to your mirrors.

FAQ

Question	Answer
What is the construction and purpose of exterior mirrors and parts?	Exterior mirrors and parts are a set of components mounted on the sides of the vehicle, usually near the front doors. Their base is a housing with a mount, to which the mirror glass, insert, adjustment mechanism, and covers are attached. Depending on the version, motors, wiring, turn signals, sensors, and a folding function may also be included.
What are exterior mirrors and parts used for?	Exterior mirrors and parts are used to observe the vehicle's surroundings and improve safety during lane changes, reversing, and parking. They are also responsible for the correct setting of the driver's and passenger's field of view. Faulty glass, mechanisms, or housings can impair visibility, cause vibrations, or limit the operation of heating and adjustment.
What is the construction and function of the mirror adjustment mechanism?	The mirror adjustment mechanism is a set of components that changes the position of the mirror glass vertically and horizontally. It consists of mounting points, joints, and, in electric versions, motors and a connector. Its efficiency affects precise view setting, insert stability, and proper interaction with the housing.
How to choose an exterior mirror for a specific car version?	It is best to compare the OEM number, mounting side, and body/equipment version. In practice, the number of pins, presence of heating, electric folding, memory settings, or turn signals in the housing also matters. For pre-facelift and post-facelift cars, it is worth additionally checking the shape of the base and housing.
What symptoms indicate damage to a mirror or its parts?	The most common symptoms are lack of adjustment, non-working heating, loose housing, vibrations while driving, and cracked or dull glass. Problems with folding or the turn signal in the mirror also occur. With such symptoms, it is worth checking the insert itself, as well as the mount, wiring, and internal mechanism.
How to take care of exterior mirrors and parts after installation?	After installation, it is worth regularly cleaning the glass and housing and periodically checking the operation of the adjustment and heating. It is also good practice to check the stability of the mount and the condition of the wires when removing the door trim. If bumpers and mounting parts also interact with them in the car, an inspection after a minor collision should cover this entire area of the bodywork.
