Intake manifolds are intake system components mounted between the throttle body and the engine cylinder head. What role do swirl flaps play in intake manifolds?

Swirl flaps are moving components placed in the runners of some intake manifolds. They serve to change airflow characteristics at different engine speeds and loads. Thanks to them, the mixture can swirl better, which supports combustion at lower operating ranges. However, they require inspection for play, shaft wear, and correct operation of the control mechanism.

How to choose an intake manifold for a specific car version?

It is best to compare the OEM part number, interchangeable numbers, as well as the fuel type and engine version. It is also worth checking the layout of ports, mounting points, sensor sockets, and compatibility with intake accessories. For cars from different production years, the pre-facelift or post-facelift version and factory equipment may also be significant.

What symptoms indicate a problem with the intake manifold?

The most common symptoms are rough engine operation, power loss, mixture errors, and increased fuel consumption. Additionally, leaks, oil traces at connections, or problems with the variable geometry mechanism may appear. During diagnostics, it is also worth checking gaskets, vacuum lines, and cooperating components.
