What is the construction and purpose of seat covers?

Seat covers are shields placed on car seats and backrests, and in many sets, also on headrests. Their task is to protect factory upholstery from dirt, abrasion, and daily wear. A typical set consists of parts matched to the seat shape, technical openings, and mounting elements such as elastics, hooks, or Velcro.

What are seat covers used for?

Seat covers are used to protect upholstery and improve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. They limit direct contact of the seat material with clothing, moisture, and dirt, which helps keep seats in better condition. Additionally, they can facilitate seasonal cabin refreshment and matching its look to the interior color and style.

What is the construction and function of cover mounts?

Cover mounts are elements that keep the material in the correct position on the seat and prevent it from shifting. They can take the form of elastic drawstrings, straps, hooks, Velcro, or tunnels inserted into the gaps between seat and backrest elements. Their correct placement affects the fit, comfort of use, and access to adjusters and other seat elements.

How to choose seat covers for a specific car?

It is best to compare the OEM number, body version, seat type, and the presence of equipment such as armrests, adjustments, or headrest access points. It is also worth checking the color, material, and vehicle location, especially when the set includes only the front or the rear bench separately.

What signs of cover mismatch should you pay attention to?

Typical signs include material wrinkling, the cover shifting while sitting, obscured technical openings, and difficult access to levers and adjusters. Mismatch can also cause unsightly positioning on seat bolsters and faster material wear in areas of greatest tension.

How to clean and maintain seat covers?

The cleaning method should be matched to the material from which the cover is made, as velour, polyester, or eco-leather require different care agents. Regular vacuuming, quick stain removal, and checking seams and mounts help maintain the good appearance and functionality of the set for a longer time.
