What is the construction and purpose of transport systems?

Transport systems are components designed to increase a car's carrying capacity without taking up cabin space. They usually consist of base bars, rails, mounting feet, clamps, locks, and accessories tailored to specific loads. They are mounted on the roof or at the rear of the vehicle, depending on the car's design and the chosen solution.

What are transport systems used for?

Transport systems are used to carry loads that do not fit in the trunk or passenger cabin. They enable the safe transport of bicycles, skis, roof boxes, and other travel accessories. Their proper fitment also affects load stability and vehicle handling comfort.

What role do mounting points play?

Mounting points are locations provided by the manufacturer for seating bars, rails, or transport holders. They are responsible for correctly transferring loads to the body and properly positioning the entire set. When selecting, you must check their layout, bolt or catch type, and compatibility with the roof version.

How to match transport systems to a specific car?

It is best to compare the OEM number, roof type, body version, and mounting method intended by the manufacturer. It is worth checking if the car has integrated rails, classic rails, fixed points, or a roof without factory mounts. It also matters whether the part is intended for a pre-facelift, post-facelift version, or specific equipment level.

What signs of wear should be checked before installation?

Before installation, it is worth inspecting the condition of the anti-corrosion coating, locks, clamps, and rubber or plastic elements. Cracks, worn bolts, deformed profiles, and missing covers or end caps are concerning. Such damage can hinder proper part seating and reduce the stability of the transported load.

How to care for transport systems after the season?

After disassembly, it is worth cleaning the components of salt, mud, and moisture, and then drying them before storage. A good practice is to store bars, holders, and accessories in a dry place and separately secure bolts, end caps, and keys. Before the next season, check the completeness of the set and the condition of all mounts again.
