What is the construction and purpose of fog lights?

Fog lights are auxiliary lamps mounted in the front part of the vehicle, usually low in the bumper. Their construction includes a housing, lens, reflector or LED module, light source, seals, and mounting points. This element is designed to emit a wide beam of light close to the surface and improve visibility in difficult weather conditions.

What are fog lights used for?

Fog lights are used to illuminate the road and shoulder during fog, heavy rain, and snowfall. Due to their low position, they limit the effect of light reflecting off moisture suspended in the air. They also help other drivers notice the vehicle faster, especially in poor road visibility.

What is the construction and function of the bumper grille for the fog lamp?

The bumper grille for the fog lamp is a shielding and mounting element located next to or around the lamp in the bumper. It is responsible for the proper seating of the lamp, the aesthetics of the vehicle's front, and compatibility with the bumper line. Depending on the car version, it may differ in shape, finish, presence of holes, and type of clips.

How to choose fog lights for a specific car version?

It is best to compare the OEM part number, interchangeable numbers, mounting side, and body version. It is also worth checking the connector type, housing shape, and whether the lamp is intended for a pre-facelift or post-facelift bumper. For cars with different equipment packages, the form of the grille and the mounting method also matter.

What symptoms indicate the need to replace fog lights?

The most common symptoms are no light, fogging inside the lamp, a cracked lens, or damaged mounts. A lamp with a cloudy reflector or a burnt-out bulb socket may also qualify for replacement. Such defects affect the quality of the beam and hinder the proper use of the lighting.

What data in the offer should be paid attention to before purchase?

The most important information is the brand, part condition, OEM part number, interchangeable numbers, placement on the vehicle, and finish color. It is good to also compare photos of mounting points and the type of light source used. The more accurately the data is checked, the easier it is to match the part without mounting modifications.
